Walking the dogs in the exercise field

Dogs are very welcome

We don't charge for your dogs. All three cottages have individual day kennels, hosepipes and secure exercise areas so everyone can have a relaxing holiday.

Keeper's Cottage and Groom's Cottage are attached barn conversions, each with 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and a kitchen/diner/lounge on the first floor. The holiday cottages are furnished to a high standard and each cottage has a balcony with views over the surrounding countryside, the lake, the exercise area and the farm.

The Bailiff's House sleeps 6 and is a detached self contained single storey house with 3 bedrooms, sitting in its own large enclosed garden with ample off road parking.

Bringing your dog on holiday

As lifelong dog owners who take their dogs on holiday, we welcome dogs. We understand what a dog and its owners need on holiday. Our holiday accommodation is designed so that your dogs enjoy their holiday as much as the rest of the family.

Facilities for dogs

Each cottage has a day kennel and hosepipe. There is a fenced exercise area to the front of Groom's Cottage and Keeper's Cottage extending to about an acre with a shallow lake. Both cottage balconies overlook these and dogs can run free whilst being exercised.

In addition each cottage has a yard so you can leave the cottage door open and not worry about your dog.

Bailiff's House has a half acre of lawned fenced garden for the sole use of its guests. This together with its large kennel and hosepipe makes it suitable for 4 to 6 dogs depending on size.

Keeper's and Groom's are suitable for 2 to 3 dogs depending on size.

We provide dog towels and throws.

Peaceful rural farm location

Higher Tregawne lies at the head of the lovely Ruthern Valley and its land runs up to 600ft at its highest point from which there are magnificent views over Padstow, the Camel Estuary, Brae Hill, Rough Tor and Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor.

Here you are far from the madding crowds. On clear nights the stars shine brightly as there is virtually no light pollution.

Our latest news and offers

Wifi

We now have WIFI in all 3 Cottages.

Prices

We have NOT, increased our prices for 2024. They remain the same for the 5th consecutive year.. We are adding a £20 extra charge to cover the dramatic hike in the cost of electricity, we hope you will understand! Please donít disappear for the day and leave the heating on full blast!

Dogs

We are getting loads of questions about the fencing. The fencing is approx 4 ft 6 inches tall with stock netting and chicken wire and plain wire over. We have had over 1000 dogs come to stay and never lost one. This year we have revamped the kennels for those whose dogs are kennel trained, which means we can take more dogs in Keepers and Grooms depending on size. Bailiffs can take virtually unlimited dogs within reason; we have had 8 with no difficulty.

The Times has recently named Lanhydrock in Bodmin as the best Doggie day out in the Country.

Cider

If you like Cider ask about our Scrumpy produced at our farm near Callington, in our own press in the traditional way.  It is not for the faint hearted and needs to be enjoyed in moderation. If you feel like a hot cider toddy ask Caroline or John for their recipe.

Short Breaks

We are pleased to do short breaks. The prices are so much per day based on the relevant proportion of the weekly rates. These are subject to a minimum of £200.  We do not provide a full welcome basket for short breaks..
